Jay Simmons
Chief Executive Officer
Prior to joining Deepwell, Mr. Simmons has extensive experience in helping to
create and grow entrepreneurially-oriented energy companies both in Canada and
the United States through his family holding company, Simmons Financial Holdings
Corp. The holding company was one of the original investors in the predecessor
company to Deepwell. The holding company also holds interests in a number of
privately-held companies including ones involved in water treatment technology,
power generation, international drilling and services and retail electric
marketing in Texas. Mr. Simmons served in executive-level and director positions
with several oil and gas and service businesses and power generation
enterprises. He also has restructuring and advisory services experience with a
global chartered accounting firm. Mr. Simmons holds a chartered accountant
designation and is a graduate of Dalhousie University.
Don Johnson
Vice-President, Operations
Don Johnson joined Deepwell in October 2006. Don’s responsibility has been managing the operations of Deepwell’s 4 disposal facilities. Developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, process improvements and personnel management have been his primary focus. Don has 23 years of oilfield experience, 14 of which are directly related to the processing and disposal industry in operations and construction.
Brian Johnson
Vice President of Business Development
Brian Johnson joined Deepwell in June 2006 as the Manager of Business Development. He has been promoted to Vice President of Business Development as of October 2008. Brian's primary responsibility is executing Deepwell's strategic growth plan. He identifies new service offerings, facility locations and acquisition opportunities to expand Deepwell's capacity to meet a growing industry demand for its services. His background includes over 18 years of waste management experience. This includes managing the sales and marketing group of a major public oilfield waste management company and six years as a facility operator for a private waste management firm.
